Freelance Wordpress Developer
View is seeking Wordpress developer to work with our in house graphic designer on a Wordpress website. Though your input is valuable, this position is primarily development, not design.
The WordPress Developer must possess a strong portfolio showcasing advanced knowledge with the WordPress platform. This project can be done remotely.
Applicants should possess a solid portfolio showcasing advanced knowledge with the WordPress platform. Experience with arts, or non-profits is a plus.

Part Time Program Assistant
February - May, $7.50/hr.
Help in all departments. 15 hrs/wk for a variety of tasks including a combination of: data entry, permanent collection maintenance and archiving, exhibition installation (includes painting, spackling, schlepping), workshop studio assistance, write press releases, internet research, mailings, telephone, post flyers, kitchen inventory and cleanup, laundry. Flexible hours btw 9 am – 5 pm. depending on your schedule and our need.
Helpful qualifications: Microsoft word, Excel, Photoshop. Good verbal and writing skills. Willingness to do variety of tasks. Humor! Car

Summer 2012 Internships in the Arts
Application Deadline: February 20, 2012
Summer 2012: View has internship positions available for college students or recent graduates interested in gaining hands on experience. Interns will receive practical training in arts programming, day-to-day operations in a fast-paced environment, and working with a small, committed staff and dedicated volunteers in a brand new green building.
All Interns responsibilities will include:
Assisting with benefits and fundraisers, preparation and distribution of promotional materials, and various administrative tasks and errands. Interns may assist in more than one area depending on their abilities and interests, but are designated to specific areas. Interns with skills in illustration, graphics, video, or photography may be given opportunities to build their portfolios. If qualified, interns may have the opportunity to teach a workshop. Exhibition installation, take down and communication with visitors and associates are all part of the summer responsibilities. Excellent computer and communication skills are a must. Interns are expected to work 40+ hours a week. Some nights and weekends are required.
Exhibitions Assistant:
View presents a diverse range of fine arts exhibitions. The exhibitions assistant will work closely with the Curator in preparing and implementing summer exhibits including the nationally renowned Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors. Database management, creating exhibition materials, maintaining artist relations, and various administrative responsibilities will be required aspects of this position. Hands on duties will include permanent collection maintenance and archiving, installation of exhibitions, assisting with opening receptions and exhibition-related events, and working directly with artists and exhibition jurors.
Workshop Assistants (2):
View offers an outstanding array of interesting, diverse, and fun workshops and classes for adults, teens, and children including pottery, fine arts, fiber and basketry, theater, culinary, and jewelry. The Interns will provide support to the, instructors and students. Tasks include administrative responsibilities, room preparation and organization, anddatabase management. This position requires Interns who are creative, have lots of energy, have strong computer skills, and are comfortable working with children and adults. Interns will organize and manage a morning children’s program in July and August.
Performances Assistant:
View has a 180-seat performance space that presents theatre, music, and dance productions throughout the year with a high summer concentration. The intern will assist the Program Manager in all aspects of running a successful summer program of approximately 15 productions. Gain hands-on experience on the inner workings of a performing arts venue. Specific duties will include box office management, food and beverage, marketing/public relations, technical services, volunteer services, and performer hospitality. Successful candidates should possess excellent organizational and people skills, and a flexible schedule. They must also possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Some of the following skills would also benefit; light board, soundboard, press, box office, house management, and of course Word and Excel. Bring your energy, enthusiasm, and passion for the performing arts.
Graphic Design & Media Assistant:
Work with the Graphic Designer/Media Manager to generate graphics and press for a wide variety of events, exhibitions, and performances. You will execute several involved projects from the branding stages to execution. Duties include conceptual development, branding, designing various printed materials such as posters and rack cards, updating the website (programming skills not required), writing press releases, social networking, and research. Intern is required to have working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. Additional programs or creative abilities such as printmaking, programming and video are desirable. When applying for this position please attach a portfolio of 5-10 pieces in PDF format or include a link to your online portfolio. Portfolio pieces should reflect digital and hand illustration skills, a strong sense of typography, and include at least one poster.
Events Assistant:
View hosts an array of special events that take advantage of the Adirondack setting, as well as the center's picturesque grounds. The Event Intern will work closely with the Event Manager to coordinate and execute a number of art focused festivals, auctions, and social events. View's largest fundraiser of the year is our annual Gala that takes place in July. The Event Intern will have hands on experience working with caterers, creating decorating plans, table layouts, event timelines, and arranging entertainment. Stipend & Housing
Interns are given a stipend of $50 per week. College credits may also be arranged.
Interns are provided housing within walking distance to the center and the conveniences of the village. Previous interns have been able to live comfortably with and without vehicles. Interns may attend workshops, events, and performances, free of charge on a space available basis.
