Position Title: Community and Special Events Management

Position Need:
View is a dynamic Center for Arts and Culture based in the Adirondack Region. Our mission is to enrich, educate, entertain, and inspire.
We seek a spirited, energetic, open-minded and enthusiastic individual who is collaborative in nature, and dedicated to creating and delivering
exceptional programs and events at View.


This full-time position will manage a variety of programs including but not limited to community events, annual and seasonal benefits, fairs and festivals, and special activities, such as weddings and conferences.
The incumbent will have primary responsibility for ownership of assigned programs including planning and scheduling, execution and post-event reviews.

 This position reports to the President, and operationally to the CFO/Director of Business Operations and works in collaboration with the View team.


Major responsibilities:

  • Works closely with team members to develop new programs, and plans for and executes events, liaising with core team members in functional areas of program management such as design, product marketing, public relations, marketing communications, and finance.
  • Works closely with volunteer committees to plan, implement, and evaluate important current and new programs, always ensuring that they’re fresh, current, and relevant.

  • Promote View’s facilities rental to a broad spectrum of organizations and individuals and respond to all requests to utilize View’s facilities.

  • Prepare annual operating budget for areas of responsibility and take responsibility for the management of the budget with oversight from the CFO/Director of Business Operations and the President.

  • Recommend and pursue partnerships with local and targeted organizations to promote Old Forge and View as a destination visit.

  • Participate in soliciting underwriting sponsorships such as grants and other funding sources that will generate program or event related revenue.

  • Responsibility to manage the kitchen/pantry and beverage component of View’s business operations, ensuring compliance with NYS regulations, and ensuring appropriate levels of supplies and inventories.

  • Write processes and policies designed to train contracted vendors, caterers, volunteers, and others regarding program implementation.

Our schedule of events requires that the successful candidate will be able and willing to work an occasional evening and/or weekend hours for program management and execution.


Work Experience:
The successful candidate will have previous work experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to multi-task, show creativity in ideas for program consideration, proven demonstration of planning and execution of programs or events, and ability to plan and budget. Candidates can come from for-profit or not-for-profit organizations.


Undergraduate degree in any number of disciplines, including but not limited to arts, business or finance, or equivalent business experience in a related field or discipline.
