Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment
The Women’s Fund of Herkimer and Oneida Counties’ mission is to create economic, educational, and personal growth opportunities for women and girls. It is with this mandate that, in June 2020, The Women’s Fund commissioned 10 local artists to showcase their vision of the Suffragist Movement and passage of the 19th amendment. With this exhibition, The Women’s Fund pays tribute to our foremothers who not only fought for the right to vote, but they also literally laid the foundation for women to hold the highest office in the United States.
Over 40 artists submitted applications and 10 were chosen based on their portfolios, their proposal, and creativity of their works. On October 1, 2020, these 10 works were purchased by the Women’s
Fund of Herkimer and Oneida Counties at $1000 each. The original design of Art of the Vote was to be on October 22, 2020, at Utica College, with a full night of artistic celebration of the 19th amendment through dance, music, a visual art auction, and our guest speaker, NYS Attorney General Letitia James. Although that celebration was cancelled, The Women’s Fund of Herkimer and Oneida Counties is pleased to be able to share this exhibition with the community at prestigious locations in Central New York.
