ANGEL OF MUSIC BY MATTHEW BIRD
"Angel of Music is a painting of my daughter as she was dressed up for a Christmas pageant. It was done with transparent watercolor. The darks were slowly built up in layers, the white of the paper was carefully preserved for the highlights. I enjoyed the challenges of the various textures in this piece: the black lacquer of the piano, the folds in the fabric, and the reflective tinsel garland. The sheet music that is visible is a sonata by Haydn in C major, and can be played if one were so inclined."
