Dear members and friends,

I am more than pleased to announce that after four months of the View team working remotely to offer virtual and online programs to our membership and visitors, VIEW WILL RE-OPEN OUR FACILITY THIS MONDAY, JUNE 29TH!

This has been, and continues to be, a trying time for Americans who are desperate to get on with their lives, while at the same time maintaining health and safety standards for ourselves and those around us. In preparing to open, we have taken many steps to safeguard our employees and visitors according to CDC and NYS health and safety requirements. These actions include, but are not limited to: requiring anyone who visits View to wear a mask, social distancing, sanitizing stations, layout changes for the flow of traffic, group limits for social gatherings, and many more safety precautions.

In addition, we’re very happy to report that we’ve set up a large tent in our courtyard that will enable us to hold applicable programs and activities in an open-air environment.

Regrettably, we’ve had to cancel a number of larger-scale events such as a premium-level concert featuring Lucie Arnaz, and an upscale Garden Party that was to be our primary social gathering and fundraiser this summer. If all goes well, these two events will be added to our schedule for next summer.

We’ve also modified some of our events, like our Craft Fair that would have been held on July 4th in the Adirondack Bank parking lot in Old Forge. This year the Craft Fair will be moved to the weekend of September 12-13, combined with what used to be Neighbor Day, and re-branded and refreshed as the Fall Harvest Celebration. Additionally, we’ll be holding a virtual auction in August that will provide attendees an opportunity to bid on a variety of unique and desirable items…details to follow separately.
Please be assured, we have a full range of programs and events that will be held this summer including new surprises we’ve recently added. While we’ve had to make adjustments, there’ll be plenty to do at View. Stay tuned for more detailed announcements.

There are two high-end exhibits that I’d like to bring to your immediate attention. The first is a new exhibit at View titled “A Select Rustic Show” highlighting eight premier, contemporary rustic Adirondack artists and their works. The show opens virtually on our website today at 5pm and in person when we open our doors on Monday, June 29th. You won’t want to miss this outstanding exhibit!

Second, our Summer Idylls exhibit, featuring Lewis Bryden’s Boardwalk Idyll collection of paintings, is online and also in our galleries for live viewing. An opening reception will be held on July 2nd at 5pm (with social distancing and other safety guidelines in place).

We’re fortunate to have a beautiful arts and culture facility, a team of dedicated employees and Board of Directors, and most appreciably, a group of committed donors, supporters, and volunteers who have demonstrated time and time again, including the past few months, how important View is to them and our community. To all of you on behalf of the View team, we say “thank you!”

See you soon at View!
