The Old Forge Community Chorus presents a FREE concert “Music of the People: Celebrating Cultural Diversity Through Song” in observance of World Day for Cultural Diversity. The chorus will take listeners on a tour of the globe, singing folk songs from Ireland, Sweden, Jamaica, Scotland, Israel and other countries. The performance will feature accompaniment by Melanie Evans, Assistant Concertmaster for the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra and several other local musicians.
Admission is free, although donations will be gratefully accepted. Refreshments will be served following the performance and guests may also enjoy free admission to View’s galleries to explore the 72nd Central Adirondack Art Show, the 2023 Central New York Watercolor Society Signature Show, Painted Narratives: Rural Voices Rising, and Blue Sky Inspirations from Santorini.
The United Nations designated May 21st as World Day for Cultural Diversity in order to highlight the richness of the world’s cultures and to foster intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development.
