Do you ever wonder how those wonderful flower portraits are achieved with their vibrant hues and layered undertones along with subtle shadows that make the plants seem to spring off the page? One of the ways It is done is with color. But how do you get the right colors each and every time?
This course will be taught in colored pencil but the take aways are for any medium. If you don’t have the right color how do you manipulate the colors you have to get the correct hue? How do you know what colors to put together to achieve that goal, is it always trial and error or are there reasonings behind picking up certain pencils to get different results?
Students will draw a specific flower each week in a different color and exploring that range of color we will be learning how to get the correct hues for the local color, the shadow colors and the surrounding colors. We will be making our own colors using the Prismacolor pencils by layering the colors.
