This online workshop is an introduction class to drawing self portraits with mixed media using various drawing techniques aimed at making students feel free and comfortable while exploring a self portrait.
Students will practice using three different drawing methods including blind contour, pattern-making, and opposite hand drawing, trying a different method each week working up to a final portrait drawing in the fourth week. The class will go over different materials, workspace preparation, and various portrait drawing steps.
Students will finish the four-week course with a final mixed media self portrait.

Hilary Hubanks is an Illustrator, Graphic and Textile Designer who creates bright, eccentric drawings and surface designs. Originally from southern Wisconsin, she takes much of her inspiration from her open-minded upbringing and her appreciation for the natural world. Using an array of mixed media, Hilary creates highly patterned work brimming with detail that speaks to her multitude of interests. She now lives and works in New York City, and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
