Instructor: Holly Greenberg
Learn the fundamentals of Bookbinding and Book Arts in this three-hour workshop where you will bind your own blank books, as well as, learn about developing books with content. Students will make three small books: Japanese Stab Binding with soft cover, Drum Leaf Binding with hard-cover and Pamphlet stitch with soft cover. Plus, you will have hands on access to over two dozen artists books from the collection at Syracuse University.
Materials will be provided but please bring a wide assortment of your favorite papers, card stock, decorative papers, old sketches, works on paper, etc for incorporating into your books.
Holly Greenberg is an Associate Professor of Printmaking at Syracuse University where she teaches Printmaking, Book Arts, Drawing and Papermaking. Her large-scale painted and printed work explores themes of longing, desire, gender and grief. A catalog of her work can be found at: HollyGreenberg.com. She currently lives in Fayetteville, New York where she makes her home and studio in a 19c church.
