About Jane:

Jane Davila is a fiber and mixed-media artist who began her professional art career as a printmaker, specializing in etchings and intaglios. Her prints can be found in many private and corporate collections around the world, including the Lila Acheson Wallace Collection. She switched to fiber, mixed media, and art quilting in the 1990s but still incorporates many printmaking techniques, such as screen printing, block printing, gyotaku fish printing, and thermofax printing, in her work. Jane has exhibited extensively across the United States in both group and one-man exhibitions.

The experience of living in Peru as a young artist has had a lasting impact on her appreciation for the diversity of cultural expression and iconography, which as a theme frequently appears in her work. Repeating motifs of fish, birds, and insects reflect her ongoing fascination with nature, the environment, and human impact on both. Much of her work uses allegory to reveal social and cultural issues.

She teaches printmaking, surface design, and art business workshops extensively across the US as well as internationally, including in South Korea, Canada, and Australia. Since 2006, Jane has led two artist mentoring groups totaling over 60 artists in all media.

Jane has written several bestselling books on surface design and art quilting and is a frequent guest on Quilting Arts TV, shown on PBS stations nationwide. Jane works from a studio at the NEST Arts Factory in Bridgeport CT, where she is also the Managing Director.
