Enjoy an intensive and exciting two-day workshop in advanced soft pastel painting!
Your instructor, Ingrid Van Slyke, will challenge you yet guide you through advanced techniques in soft pastels. Learn more about dynamic composition, thumbnail sketches, and value studies to start you in the right direction. Ingrid will demonstrate her techniques, discuss materials, and share her secrets to creating successful pastel paintings. If you have wanted to bring your pastel painting to the next level in a relaxed, supportive, and fun environment this class is for you!
The presenter, Ingrid Van Slyke, will receive her M.F.A in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design June 2023. She has exhibited her paintings in international and national group exhibitions throughout the country including New York, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and Illinois. Her pastel paintings have been juried into the highly prestigious Pastel Society of America Enduring Brilliance exhibitions held at the National Arts Club and the Salmagundi Club in New York City. Ingrid has been a guest speaker for the National Association of Women artists, “Arts in Conversation” series and a guest teacher at the New York State Art Teacher’s Summer Institute at the Great Camp Sagamore in Upstate NY. She is also a dedicated high school visual arts teacher. Ingrid’s paintings are currently represented at Gallery 46 in Lake Placid, NY. Ingrid finds Inspiration for her paintings in the beautiful natural environment of the Adirondacks where she lives with her family.
The cost of the class is $100 for View Members and $115 for guests. Pre-registration is required and space is limited, so make sure you register soon!
This class will be held on Thursday and Friday August 10 and 11 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Make sure you bring a sack lunch with you as you will not have time to leave for lunch during the class!
Cancellations made at least 10 days prior to the first day of a class will receive a 100% refund, or can be exchanged for another class. Cancellations made less than 10 days prior to the first day of class can only be exchanged for another class.
