Experimenting with Abstraction with Instructor Sandra Z. De Visser

Artist and Signature Member of the Central New York Watercolor Society, Sandra Z De Visser is a teaching this workshop on experimenting with abstraction.  Students will explore different techniques and color to create a dynamic composition.   Sandra will also lead the students in an exploration of using different non-traditional (not using brushes) techniques for applying paint to the image.

Materials required for the class:

  • Good quality (Arches) Watercolor paper 9”x12” since this workshop is all about experimentation please bring lots of watercolor paper. 
  •  One piece of Plexiglas sixed to 16” x 20”
  • Watercolor paints AND/OR Acrylic paints. Preferably Golden Fluids or High Flow
  • Acrylic Gesso, white, 4oz
  • Acrylic Matte Medium, 4 oz.
  • Brushes of choice
  • Palette knives and some kind of palette
  • 2” hard rubber brayer
  • Sumi ink, small bottle
  • India ink, small bottle
  • Medicine (eye) dropper(s)
  • Plastic old credit card
  • White tissue paper (gift wrap type)
  • Non breakable container for water
  • Small mist (pump spray) bottle
  • Small (2 to 4 oz.) containers for mixing paints for paints for pouring
  • Plastic wrap
  • Paper towels and small terry towel
  • Scissors
  • Pencil and eraser
  • Notebook and pen
