You want try fusing glass! Here is the perfect way to get off on the right foot. Introductory classes are the most important classes you can take. Learning the basics will make all the difference in your success with glass. This 4 session class will teach you about the safety, how to cut glass, basic kilnforming concepts, and some elements of design. You will learn about the different kinds of glass available to you for fusing and about the effects of temperatures on glass.
We will work with arranging glass for flat fusing and fire a second time for forming.
We will make test tiles to understand what happens, pendants, a set of 4 coasters or small bowls, and a larger final project.
All materials and tools are provided.
Susan Cox works at her kiln and casting studio in Pound Ridge, New York. She has a Master’s degree in Architecture from Columbia University. After years of practicing architecture, Susan has turned to glass as a more immediate means of exploring her ideas of light, space, and memory. In addition to her recent four month residency at Bullseye Resource Center, Mamaroneck, NY, and being chosen an “Emerge” finalist, Susan was honored by ArtsWestchester as one of their “50 For 50” artist’s initiative for 2015.
