Hand Built Ceramic Holiday Mug With Elise 11/30/2021
Tuesday | November 30th | 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
3 contact hours | Pottery Studio
Build your interest in ceramics and creating with clay! This workshop is perfect for creative individuals to make four personalized holiday mugs for yourself or to give as a gift! This workshop will provide the tools, tips, and techniques to construct up to four hand built mugs.
In this workshop participants will learn how to transform a slab of clay into a three dimensional functional pottery by darting clay. Darting is the technique when you cut away clay, using a knife, to taper in the form and alter it similar to one uses darting in sewing. Instructor, Elise Incze, will demonstrate how to use this hand building technique to join sections of clay together, apply textures, decorative elements, and add handles.
Participants will receive an overview of basic tools and studio practices.
The instructor will glaze your creations for you. Ceramic mugs will be available for picking up or shipped after drying, bisque firing, and glaze firing (2-3 weeks). Participants can also schedule a time with Elise Incze to glaze any creations after they have been bisque fired.
No pottery experience is needed.
Bring your own apron/smock and small hand towel.
