This full-day traditional quilt class has an Escher-like quality! You will see how a partial seam can make your quilting look more complicated than it really is. Instructor Mary Gay Leahy will guide you through exploring some new piecing and pressing techniques, that will show you the way to get your blocks to lie flat and your points to meet. At the end of class you will have learn how to create simple patterns that when put together leave complex designs that will be sure to impress any crowd.

Scrolling Around With Hand Stitching
Join instructor Liz Kettle as you experiment with different types of hand stitches on bits of fabric, and learn how to create fabric collage scrolls wound on vintage wooden spools. Your Scroll can be a color exploration, a theme such as nature, or a special collection of fabrics you love. You will learn a variety of simple hand stitches that create a big impact, so this class is beginner friendly. You will learn fun and creative ways to make those stitches your very own.
* Material List will be sent after registration.
Bojagi Banner (hand stitching)
Learn the ancient hand stitching technique of Bojagi with instructor Liz Kettle. The Bojagi technique is incredibly simple but as you will see, you could take a lifetime to explore all the variations. In this class, you will learn the traditional hand stich techniques and explore collage, as you create a totally unique wall hanging! Bojagi panels have a modern aesthetic despite being an ancient technique. They can be created with sheer and opaque fabrics as well! You can follow tradition and use left over bits and pieces of worn out clothing, or create your panel out of new, coordinated fabrics. Either way, you will leave this class with a beautiful new wall hanging.
* Materials List will be sent after registration.
Pochoir Printing:
Come be inspired by Moroccan and Art Deco cement tiles to create a unique design for printing on fabric. Use an updated version of this stencil printing technique to make custom fabric for your next quilting or sewing project. Instructor Jane Davila will teach you about registration for nearly perfect printing, repeat patterns, single and multi-color designs, and much more! You'll leave with 2-3 large pieces of original fabric and the knowledge to make more. A wide variety of tiles will be presented for inspiration.
* Materials List will be sent after registration
Nature Print Pastiche:
Join Instructor Jane Davila, as she teaches you how to combine a variety of surface and printing techniques on fabric into small collage with hand stitching. Print leaves, veggies or fish onto fabric to create your main subject. Make your own blocks to print for a background, and to remove color in a discharging technique for fabric accents. Finish your unique collage with big stitch quilting.
* Materials List will be sent after registration.
