FELLOW PLEIN AIR PAINTERS:
Greetings and thank you for your interest in this year’s, our 12th annual, PLEIN AIR PAINT OUT to benefit View of Old Forge NY, our region's top notch center for arts and culture.
Last year’s event was quite a challenge to say the least – but, we are proud and pleased to report we had 45 artists participate and the auction (plus consignment sales) were encouraging. But this year, we are delighted to be able to return to our typical format, including a live auction! You will have the chance to mingle and paint with fellow artists, enjoy the hospitality of View and our community, compete for one of several awards and cash prizes, put 1-2 paintings into the consignment display, win one of the generous artist raffles and, very importantly, know that your auction donation will benefit View and its role in the arts and the ADKS.
The organizing committee and View leadership are most appreciative of our participating artists. We invite you to participate in this year’s event. In return each artist will donate a framed, ready to hang painting for the Saturday benefit auction. Also, each participating artist may submit 1-2 framed paintings for consignment sale, with a fee of $10 per painting for those who are not View members. Why not join now? Click Here to Become a Member. They will be on display – in person at View and virtually- in advance of the Saturday auction, and View retains 35% of the consignment painting revenues. All paintings must be pre-registered. We’ll provide details in August.
Please join us to paint for 2-3 days in and around the Old Forge area. Artist check-in opens Thursday, September 2, launching 3 full days of plein air activities. Once you register you will start to receive regular communications from us to keep you well informed, including information about overnight accommodations.
Here’s an overview of what you can look forward to:
Thursday, September 2: artist welcome and check-in, continental breakfast, grab and go lunch
Friday, September 3: artist check-in (cont’d), continental breakfast, grab and go lunch, View from 5 Corners, Artists’ Dinner (you and a guest), when we announce the winners and prizes of the Uniquely ADK competition** and the Artists’ Raffles
Saturday, September 4: turn in auction painting(s) and enjoy a more leisurely day of painting, socializing, shopping, hiking – whatever you choose- until the Auction Preview and Live Auction.
Sunday, September 5: Remaining Consignment*** Pick Up

CONSIGNMENT PAINTING(S)*** ONLINE REGISTRATION DEADLINE: August 25, 2021 (Registration information will be sent in August)
AUCTION PAINTING DONATION DEADLINE: 10am, Saturday September 4

**UNIQUELY ADK: artists may choose to enter this plein air competition by having paper/canvas stamped at registration, proving the painting was done on-site over the two days of this event. All media are eligible. Completed and matted (not necessarily framed)paintings, to be considered for awards/prizes, must be turned in to View by Friday, September 3 at 3pm. The judge will award a number of prizes: to date, 1st ($250), 2nd ($150) and 3rd ($100). The judge may also choose to add other awards. UNIQUELY ADK paintings may be the artists’ choice to donate to the auction and if so, they will be displayed with their ribbons and the awards will be announced at the live auction.
***CONSIGNMENT PAINTINGS: Each registered artist may bring or send 1-2 paintings (framed, wire hangers required) to View for display in the lobby and virtually starting August 31st. You may drop off anytime after August 20th to be displayed at the August 31st display or turn in when you arrive at the event and your work will be added to the display. There is no fee for View members; non-members pay a fee of $10 per painting. Online registration of your consignment painting and payment must be received online in advance of their arrival. The consignment paintings will be hung and on display in the View lobby a few days in advance of and throughout the event and will be available for “pay and take” sale. Any unsold paintings will be taken down and ready for pick-up Sunday September 5. The consignment registration and payment link will be sent in August.
** View reserves 35% of the sale price and checks for sold paintings will be sent within 30 days of the sale ** pick up consignment paintings: please make arrangements to have unsold painting(s) picked up Sunday, September 5 at View between 10-4.
