In this two person talk, Dr. Brian F. Leydet will discuss the history of tick-borne diseases in the state, as well as current and future opportunities that
will help us understand and prevent this growing threat to human and animal health. Dr. Kristopher Paolino will be presenting a review of the clinical
issues being faced in Lyme and tick-borne disease.

Dr. Brian Leydet, MPH, PhD, is a vector-borne disease biologist who completed his
doctoral work at LSU's School of Veterinary Medicine, where he studied tick-borne diseases in understudied areas, and the pathogenic
potential of Borrelia bissettii. Dr. Kristopher Paolino, MD, MTM&H, is an infectious Disease Physician at Suny Upstate specializing in the
treatment of Lyme disease and tick-borne illness. Paolino is the Director of Clinical Research, Center for Global Health and Translational
Medicine Division of Infectious Disease and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University.
