Gary lives at Eight Acre Wood in Inlet, where he was the forest ranger for 35 years, working in the Moose River Wild Forest Recreation Area and West Canada Wilderness Area. Now retired, Gary works summers for the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation, observing, catching, and banding loons. He authored a column, Daybreak to Twilight, in local papers from 1986 to 2019 and now writes Outdoor Adventures, a weekly blog. In 2008, Gary coauthored a book with John M.C. “Mike” Peterson, “Adirondack Birding: 60 Great Places to Find Birds.”

Wendy L. Barrett Artist Bio:

Wendy Barrett is a Central New York photographer whose work has been exhibited in national and regional juried art shows in Central New York and the Adirondacks and also displayed in business and private art collections.

Notecards featuring her nature and landscape images are available in Adirondack shops from Old Forge to Lake Placid, as well as in New Hartford and Utica, where she served in the past as a judge for Utica Camera Club competitions.

Ms. Barrett’s interest in photography began during her undergraduate studies in English and journalism at the State University of New York at Cortland. An introductory course on photo-journalism taught her the value of communication through imagery.

Her careers in news reporting and corporate communications provided opportunities to expand her photography experience, as did travels with her husband and family to national parks around the United States. While raising two children, she engaged in freelance and volunteer work and began to develop a photography portfolio.

Additional photography courses and photo contests inspired her to further pursue her art and develop a portfolio that today primarily highlights landscapes and other aspects of the natural environment.
