Mary Murphy: View from our Waters

The Adirondack Park waters are an amazing gift. They include more than 3,000 lakes and 30,000 miles of rivers and streams. How lucky we are to have this resource — considering 1.1 billion people worldwide lack access to bodies of water.

As an artist, I feel doubly lucky — water sparkles, colors, reflects, clarifies, deepens, muddies, darkens, mirrors, and glimmers, giving me wonderful local inspirations. “View from our Waters” is my celebration and thanks for the beauty around us. Most of the paintings in this exhibit were inspired while on the water in a kayak or boat.
