View all PotteryOverview
Join longtime ceramics instructor Paul Molesky for an engaging, hands-on workshop designed for a range of skill levels. With over 40 years of experience teaching mixed-ability classes, Paul brings not only deep knowledge of the craft, but also a warm, encouraging teaching style that
makes learning both productive and enjoyable. Over four afternoon sessions (4 hours each), Paul will demonstrate his approach to throwing
functional ware on the wheel. Instruction will be tailored to the group, with beginners learning foundational techniques while more experienced students are guided through advanced skills and refinements. Each class will include demonstrations, followed by ample time for hands-on practice. Paul will circulate throughout the studio, offering individualized feedback and guidance to help each student grow at their own pace. Whether you’re new to the wheel or looking to strengthen your technique, this workshop offers a supportive environment to build skills, explore form, and enjoy the creative process.
Paul Molesky is a studio potter living and working in Syracuse, New York. He creates functional ceramics that are exhibited and sold at fine art and craft shows, as well as select galleries throughout New York State. Paul studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and earned his Master of Fine Arts from Tulane University. For more than 40 years, he has been making pottery and teaching ceramics, working with students of all skill levels. In 1995, Paul built a fast-fire wood kiln, driven by his passion for the rare and dynamic effects achieved through wood firing. While few potters produce functional ware using this demanding and traditional process, Paul embraces both its challenges and rewards, creating pieces that
reflect the natural beauty and unpredictability of fire and ash.
