Overview

byCONTRAST: Apparent Contradictions 2025 to 2026, a NJ+NY regional juried exhibition, comes to the View Arts Center in Old Forge in coordination with Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) [https://www.saqa.com/about ] from Oct. 4 to Nov. 30

For byCONTRAST: Apparent Contradictions, the second exhibition by the SAQA NJ+NY region, artists were asked to create work that explores a particular kind of contrast epitomized in everyday expressions. Our language is rich in these seemingly contradictory or incongruous figures of speech, used for dramatic, humorous, or ironic effect.

The show was juried by fiber artist Ann Johnston, whose experimentation with dye and fabric have led to numerous exhibitions worldwide, including over twenty solo exhibits and multiple publications [ https://annjohnston.net ]. The exhibition features thirty SAQA fiber artists. The first byCONTRAST exhibition garnered praise in 2023 and 2024 when on show in Old Forge, Binghamton, and Ossining.

Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc.
