Overview

***New date!! This event has been moved from it's original date (Feb. 24) due to cold weather***

Raku is a specialty firing in an outside brick kiln. Pots are removed from the kiln when they are red hot and placed in buckets of flammable materials – sawdust, etc. – creating unusual surface effects.  With the help of View’s ceramics team, you will glaze a pot, watch it be fired, and take it home the same day!  The process takes about an hour, and is much more dramatic and fun to watch than a typical electric kiln that heats up and cools down over the course of days.

Enjoy a frosty adult beverage from the Courtyard Ice Bar while your unique ceramic piece is fired.  Need to warm up?  Hop into Gould Hall play a quick board game!

Raku pots will be available to purchase for the firing ($10 each). No registration is required but the number of pots to be fired is limited.
