This online Zoom class will be held on the following Sundays: December 7th, December 14th, December 21st, January 4th, January 11th, and January 18th. Prior to the class, the instructor will send you a Zoom link to join the class.
The Erie Canal is having it’s Bicentennial celebration this year! For the first 3 weeks of class we will draw the canal with the fall foliage. You will be able to learn how to draw still water and the myriad colors of the trees and bushes along the canal. I have several different shots of the canal. Some have buildings in them and bridges so that you have a wide variety to choose from.
For the second 3 weeks you have the option to pick your own landscape, or you can work on the Erie canal Landscape that the instructor is creating.
Week 1: I will send out the Erie canal pictures before class so that you can pick the one you want to draw. We will Grid them and draw them out at the size you want to make it, either 5 x 7 or 8 x 10”. I will show you various drawing techniques, like layering, pencil strokes, color blending etc.
Week 2: putting the basic colors in the drawing. Note: you will need to do some of the work at home.
Week 3: Finishing up the drawing. We will be checking on the final drawing with various techniques to show us if the drawing is a success.
Week 4: you will grid out your new drawing of a landscape from your materials and start the drawing process.
Week 5: continue to put color in your drawing and get feedback on it. Again, you may have to continue drawing at home.
Week 6: finishing up the drawing and checking for errors or improvements that could be done.
Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced
