Hi! My name is Michael Ferris and I’m the new Performing Arts Manager here at View!
I grew up in Boonville, NY and enjoyed “going to camp” in Old Forge with my family most weekends and vacations! Snowmobiling was a favorite winter occupation when I was a kid, but now I prefer to be on my cross-country skis or snowshoes to get my cold, snowy nature fixes!
Growing up I was always drawing pictures and cartoon characters and thought being an artist was what I would do when I grew up, too…until I got on stage in my first musical! Singing and music soon took over my creative life and projected future course. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from SUNY Fredonia under my belt, I forged a varied career on the musical stage, and travelled the world in the process!
Now, back in the mountains that I love*, and working at View, where I get to encourage, foster and share the performing arts with a community I grew up alongside of, life feels pretty darn perfect!
*I really like “getting above it all”, so I hike in the Adirondacks whenever I can get away! I’m happy to report that I’ve enjoyed the climb to the top of the 46 High Peaks and the Fire Tower peaks, too!
