Overview

Your instructor, Pamela Vogan Lynch, will show you new methods of working with watercolor by painting on a non-absorbent, textural surface. This is a non-traditional way of watercolor painting. Watercolor paper that has been prepared with an application of acrylic gesso will allow for easy lifting of color and surprising effects. Gesso will readily accept a variety of textural impressions while wet. Once dry, these irregularities provide additional visual interest as the watercolor paints are applied.  Some knowledge of watercolor is recommended.

Participants should bring their own watercolors, sketching pencil, eraser, a few small sheets of watercolor paper  (8 x 10 or larger), and references for subject inspiration. All other materials will be provided.

Pamela serves on the Board of Directors for the Central New York Watercolor Society and is a Gold Medallion Signature member.  She is also a Signature member of both the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society. Lynch is also active in the Cazenovia Watercolor Society and is an associate member in the American Watercolor Society.
