Quarantine artwork by Mary P. Murphy

When everything shut down last March, several sisters, nieces and nephews and I amused ourselves by doing a drawing a day based on a set of words (similar to “Inktober”). The pieces shown here are a selection of the drawings I shared with my family during that first, and very scary, part of the shut-down. Connecting with loved ones, making art and laughing were a positive way for me to deal with the pandemic.

Last fall, The Art Students League of New York held a quarantine comics contest, and I compiled several of my drawings into a comic book page and submitted it. My page, along with comics from 75 other people from around the world, is now a part of the book, This Quarantine Life: Comics Anthology, available online from iBooks and scheduled for print this year.
