Loaned collection from Lake Placid Olympic Museum.
Lawrence Van Alstyne is a graduate from Syracuse University Art School and moved to Lake Placid where he began working as a ski instructor. Van Alstyne was a former ski racer and used his experiences to convey the excitement of the sport in his art. His prints of the sporting events from the 1980 Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid ended up being sold all over the world. The Olympic Poster Series are all autographed by Van Alstyne and dedicated to a gentlemen named Ben on October 9th, 1978. The nine posters on display will celebrate ski jumping, bobsled, biathlon, downhill, slalom, hockey, cross-country, figure skating, and luge.
