Laura Pommier (Jasper, IN) utilizes the human form as symbol, metaphor, model and primary subject matter in her environmental compositions that teeter between the real and the imagined. Drawing heavily upon both Renaissance and Baroque era masters her work plays with ideas of beauty, balance, movement and tension between the subject and its environment. The works play out as symbolic narratives, where the figure psychologically navigates its way through contemporary spaces that are simultaneously comfortable and uncanny.
Laura Pommier was featured in last year’s Reality Check exhibition and was selected by View’s exhibition committee for a solo exhibition of her work.
